Ignoring Fashion Advice

In other news, I am thinking that this is the dress I'm going to go with for concurrent upcoming graduation/Nathan nuptial celebrations.

My hair these days is a deep, attractive shade of aubergine, so my choice here violates the only fashion advice my mother ever gave me: Never wear purple and red together!

But that can't be helped.

I will need shoes. Some kind of choker necklace. I am thinking a fabulous Philip Treacy-inspired hat.

Traveling with a Philip Treacy-inspired hat may be awkward since I am most likely going to be transporting the original Art Installation -- you remember the original Art Installation! - to California, which means that it will be my carry-on luggage.

I'm not sure how one packs a Philip Treacy-inspired hat without having it disintegrate into cardboard and feathers.

Speaking of my mother... I've decided to bring a photograph of her to Max's graduation. It will be that huge photo of her in a big hat taken at one of Woody Allen's post-production parties. My mother was a rotten parent but a pretty good grandmother. I'm sure she thought that things would have been better all around if only she'd given birth to Max before I did!

At any rate, she deserves to be there.

I love the dress. Hopefully, the hat will come in its own box. Maybe you could ship it to CA in advance. Your mom's rule is for clothes not hair. Happy shopping for shoes and a necklace.

No, I'm flying to California for Max's graduation, and then I'm driving to CT for the wedding of Max's best friend at which Max will be Best Man.

I'm not sure I would be contemplating a Philip Treacy-inspired hat (big $$$$$!) if I weren't going to be wearing the hat twice.

I wish I could go shopping with you! Your fashion sense is impeccable.

Oh, traveling hat indeed. They are a pain to carry. I’m sure it’ll come in a good box. I hope it’s one of those round ones w/ a little string & you carrying it around everywhere.

People always end up doing their own thing though lol! Like I even got my mom a shawl for my brother’s wedding, and she did her own thing. Come to think of it though, I did veto some paper flowers she had added to her hairpiece (she was really upset about it). Then I realized I had subconsciously got her a perfect fuzzy thing for it. She had said so many times she just wanted some pink in the hairpiece. But the whole concept was her own. It was this British royalty thing. We called her Lady Rose that day.

Yours is pretty British too. I’ve realized I can only make people look like me. And I find dressing for events SO hard. Starting w/ the perfect dress. You nailed yours! You’ll look amaze.

At the wedding, smallbear had a small memorial set up for her two deceased grandparents and the hubby's brother. The ring pillow was made from the lace of grandma's wedding gown.
